Some have asked where is a good place to get the news and weather for the Branson area. I have just the place - Home Town Daily News. This is the website of our local radio station and they do an excellent job of reporting the news and weather that effects the two counties of Stone and Taney. Click here for the latest News and Weather.
While there, be sure and check out the rest of their site, especially the Auction Block that has discounts to area businesses. You are going to buy these items anyway, why not save MONEY! While in Branson, be sure and turn your radio to FM 106.3 - 100.1 and

** Taneycomo Bridge: A new bridge is being built across Lake Taneycomo that connects Branson and Hollister on Business 65/Hwy. 76. Work was started at the beginning of 2010 and is progressing quickly. The piers have been poured and the beams are being put up. Part of the cliff on the Hollister side had to be blasted away to make room for the round-about that will be used to keep the traffic flowing. The new bridge will take traffic from Hollister to Branson Landing Blvd. As soon as it is completed the old bridge will be closed for repairs. After the repairs are done and both bridges are open one will carry traffic from Branson into Hollister and the other will take traffic from Hollister into Branson. When traveling across the bridge slow down and watch for construction.
** Zip Lines: If you are looking for something more exciting then maybe flying down a zip line will do the trick. It seems that 2010 is the year for zip lines in Branson.
"Branson Zipline & Canopy Tours" was the first on the scene and is located about 7 miles North of Downtown Branson just off of Hwy. 65. The address is 2339 Hwy. 65, Walnut Shade, MO. You can visit their website at Branson Zipline or give them a call 417-823-8645 or 800-712-4654.
"Shepherd of the Hills Homestead" How about riding an elevator to the top of the 230' Inspiration Tower, riding down a zip line 1/2 mile long , up to speeds of 50 miles per hour, overlooking the Ozarks hills to a gently landing below! Sound like fun? Then this is the adventure for you! Call them at 800-653-6288 or 417-334-4191. Located about mile West of Branson on Hwy. 76.
"Adventure Zipline of Branson" Right in the middle of town awaits an adventure you will not forget! Just a minute or two from your hotel room is the thrill of a lifetime. Travel up to speeds of 50 miles per hour enjoying the thrill and the view as you zip along! Visit them at Adventure Ziplines of Branson or call 417-239-3030 or 800-785-1550. Located at 501 N. Wildwood Dr. off of Gretna Road at the White House Theater.
** Trail Head Relocated: The Trail Head for the Lakeside Wilderness Area has been moved a little closer towards Hwy 76 . Fall Creek road has been realigned at Hwy. 76 to meet with the new extension of James E. Epps road that starts at Hwy. 248. The city has been doing a great job of adding and improving roads to help reduce traffic on Hwy. 76 and provide alternate routes around town. The entrance to Lakeside Wilderness Area is .01 miles off of Hwy. 76 onto Fall Creek Road. As soon as you turn onto Fall Creek Road off of Hwy. 76 get in the left turn lane and enter the parking area. There are plans in the future (probably many years) to build a type of Conservation Center at this site.
** New Airport: Branson's newest airport is up and "flying"! On May 11, 2009, the 150 million dollar airport opened for business. It is the only privately developed and operated commercial airport in the United States. Many thought it would not succeed, they were wrong! It is going strong and continues to add new flights that allows those wishing to come to Branson another option. For more information about flights, times and prices visit their website, Fly Branson
** New Trail Added: The city has added an extension trail off of the Stockstill Walking Trail. Stockstill is a figure 8 walking trail that goes around a city park along Roark Creek. The addition was completed in 2008 and is located at the East end of the trail and goes about 1/2 mile one way to Skaggs Hospital employee parking lot.
In 2009 the city has added an extension that takes you from the parking lot, under Hwy. 65 to the Branson Landing! You do have to cross a road at the Round-About so be careful especially with little children. Most of the trail past the parking lot is on sidewalks.
